[Financial News] L&F Corp. has wrapped up its exhibition at DIFA 2026 in Daegu. With LFP cathode material—which entered mass production at an annual capacity of 30,000 tons at the end of Q3—at the center of the display, L&F Corp. emphasized that it would create new growth opportunities in the battery materials market through technological innovation and advances in production technology.
On the 26th, L&F Corp. said it had participated in the 2026 Korea Future Mobility Expo (DIFA 2026), held at EXCO in Daegu from the 21st to the 24th. Under the theme “Leading the Future,” L&F Corp. displayed samples of nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials and created an interactive exhibition. The setup allowed visitors to compare the characteristics of the two materials and see their differences firsthand.
The company also introduced the status of its research and development on next-generation materials. These included cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs). It also presented its plans for building a materials supply chain outside China.
At the center of the exhibition was LFP cathode material, which began mass production for the first time in Korea at the end of Q3. L&F Corp. said it had secured proprietary production technology based on more than 10 years of experience developing LFP cathode materials and its know-how in mass-producing NCM cathode materials. The company said this enabled it to produce third-generation, high-density LFP cathode material with a compaction density (PD) of 2.5 g/cc or higher. According to L&F Corp., the material raises the energy density, which has been relatively low in conventional LFP cathode materials, while offering both performance and cost competitiveness.
Commercialization proceeded in stages. In August last year, L&F Corp. established L&F Plus, a wholly owned subsidiary responsible for producing and selling LFP cathode materials. After commissioning equipment, optimizing process conditions, stabilizing production and verifying quality, it shipped trial products at the end of July. At the end of Q3, it began mass production at an annual capacity of 30,000 tons.
Separately from the exhibition, L&F Corp. also ran programs for the local community and employees’ families. It provided technical training in NCM and LFP cathode materials to 21 university students from the Daegu area, including students from Yeungnam University, Keimyung University and DGIST, in two sessions. The aim was to deepen understanding of the secondary-battery materials industry and help develop local talent. At an event for employees’ families, participants also got to experience the company’s core technologies and business vision firsthand.
CEO Heo Je-hong said, “Through this exhibition, we showcased L&F Corp.’s distinctive competitiveness, drawing on the technological expertise we have built up in NCM cathode materials and our proprietary LFP cathode material production technology. We will create new growth opportunities in the battery materials market through continued technological innovation and advances in production technology.”
He added, “As a leading secondary-battery materials company representing Daegu, we will continue to develop local talent and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, growing together with the region.”
