[Financial News]  On the 26th, Han Byung-do, floor leader of the DPK, criticized Jang Dong-hyuk, who has served longer than anyone else since the People Power Party was launched, saying, “Jang’s past 14 months have been a period of retreat for conservative politics, marked by abusive remarks, incitement and election-fraud rhetoric.”
Han said this at a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, adding, “Just yesterday (the 25th), Jang became the longest-serving party leader since the People Power Party was launched.”
He said, “(Jang) readily invoked ethics in disciplinary politics within the party while turning a blind eye to his fellow lawmakers’ outrageous conduct and abusive remarks,” and pointed out, “Meanwhile, during National Assembly audits, remarks mocking the death of a former president were made, and words even hinting at the death of the sitting president were uttered.”
Han retorted, “In light of his record as the longest-serving leader, I hope he will first reflect on his responsibility for allowing an audit marred by abusive remarks,” adding, “I would also like to ask whether he used everything from the people’s right to political participation to national security as tools to extend his own political life.”
He added, “I hope Jang will, at least for the remainder of his term, pursue politics for the people rather than for himself in the National Assembly, not on the streets.”
