[Financial News] Busan City said it will hold the 2026 Busan–Qingdao Business Week in Qingdao, China, from the 26th through the 30th to help local companies expand into the Chinese market and strengthen economic cooperation between the two cities.
The event brings together a trade mission for eco-friendly shipbuilding equipment, participation in the China International Fisheries Expo and an exchange meeting for fisheries companies. A total of 19 companies will take part, including 18 local small and medium-sized enterprises and one mid-sized company.
Busan and Qingdao have continued exchanges in economic and industrial fields since signing an economic cooperation partnership in 2012.
The two cities are major maritime and port cities in Northeast Asia, with economies based on marine industries such as shipbuilding and fisheries, and have significant potential for industrial ties and cooperation.
From today through the 28th, a buyer consultation session for the Qingdao eco-friendly shipbuilding equipment trade mission will be held at the Qingdao Haier InterContinental Hotel.
Participating companies will hold one-on-one export consultations with local shipyards and companies that purchase ship equipment. Key products to be presented include high-value-added goods for eco-friendly vessels, such as equipment for LNG dual-fuel propulsion vessels, ultra-low-temperature valves, and marine electrical and control systems.
In cooperation with the Qingdao Trade Office, the city will identify leading local buyers and connect them with participating companies in advance. It will also explore opportunities to enter China's shipbuilding supply chain through visits to local shipyards and exchanges with purchasing managers.
Eight local fisheries companies will take part in the 29th China International Fisheries Expo, which will be held at the Qingdao Hongdao International Convention Center from the 28th to the 30th.
On the afternoon of the 28th, a Busan–Qingdao fisheries companies exchange meeting will be held in Qingdao to support cooperation between the two cities' fisheries sectors and help them develop sales channels. About 100 people are expected to attend, including representatives of the eight local companies participating in the expo, Chinese fisheries-related institutions, associations and businesses, and Qingdao municipal government officials.
Kim Gi-hwan, head of Busan City's Economic Policy Office, said, “Busan and Qingdao are economic cooperation partners with common industrial foundations in areas such as maritime industries, ports and fisheries, and have built mutual trust and cooperative ties through longstanding exchanges. We expect this Business Week to lead to tangible export results for local companies and provide an opportunity to take economic cooperation between the two cities to the next level.”
