[Financial News] NH Nonghyup Bank has introduced an additional video call verification feature to its fraud detection system (FDS) to prevent losses from financial fraud. When a suspicious transaction occurs, the bank contacts the customer directly by video call to check whether they have been victimized and block the transaction in advance.
According to the financial sector on the 26th, Nonghyup Bank will use the feature for transactions suspected of involving new types of financial fraud, including loan fraud.
FDS counselors will directly confirm the purpose and circumstances of a transaction by video call before a customer sends money. They will assess the likelihood that the customer has been victimized by analyzing the customer’s facial expressions, tone of voice and answers together. If signs of financial fraud are detected, the transaction will be blocked.
Nonghyup Bank has continued to strengthen its capabilities for detecting suspicious transactions this year, including by applying AI models to its FDS. The bank plans to add an AI consultation feature to improve the speed and accuracy of its response throughout the entire process, from detecting financial fraud to verifying customers.
A Nonghyup Bank official said, "We will do our utmost to proactively prevent losses from financial fraud and protect customers’ valuable financial assets by combining AI-based detection of suspicious transactions with direct communication between counselors and customers."
