I will also help ensure public safety and improve satisfaction with administrative services by conducting field-focused technical and safety audits to identify various risk factors in advance.”
Former Daegu City Budget Officer Lee Sang-gyu has been appointed the new chair of the Audit Committee.
The city of Daegu appointed former Daegu City Budget Officer Lee Sang-gyu as the new Audit Committee chair, effective the 26th.
The new chair brings extensive experience across planning and budgeting, having served as head of Daegu City's Economic Budget Team and Budget Coordination Team before becoming Budget Officer. An administrative expert, he has held various positions, including head of the City Management Headquarters and head of the Resource Circulation Division, and has spent 36 years in public service.
Mayor Choo Kyung-ho emphasized, “The Audit Committee plays an important role in supporting public officials as they carry out their duties proactively while ensuring transparency and accountability in city administration from the citizens’ perspective. I ask him to draw on his extensive administrative experience and expertise to strike a balance between preventive audits and rigorous inspections, and to build a city administration that citizens can trust.”
In his work plan, the new chair expressed his determination to support public officials in proactively carrying out their duties through audit exemptions for proactive administrative actions and audits focused on prevention and consulting, and to strengthen scrutiny of subsidies and large-scale investment projects in response to uncertainty in fiscal conditions. He also plans to strengthen inspections in high-risk areas such as permits and approvals, contracts, and personnel matters to improve fairness in public administration.
