[Financial News] DC favorites, including Iron Man, will appear in the Han River night sky with the help of 2,000 drones.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 25th that it will present the final show of the “2026 Han River Light Show (Drone Light Show)” at Ttukseom Hangang Park at 8:30 p.m. on the 31st. Titled “DC Special,” the performance will use 2,000 drones to bring DC’s iconic characters, including Iron Man, and key scenes from its films to life through light and music over 15 minutes. A JBL Professional sound system will also be installed at the venue.
A photo zone themed around the film “Avengers: Doomsday,” scheduled to open in December, will be set up ahead of the performance, along with a costume parade featuring DC characters. A social media check-in event running from noon to 7 p.m. will give souvenirs to the first 1,000 participants.
A program linking the event with local businesses is also planned. The Seoul Farmers’ Market, selling agricultural and specialty products from across the country, will be held near Exits 2 and 3 of Jayang Station. In partnership with Baemin, discount coupons redeemable near the event venue will also be offered.
The Han River Drone Light Show has become one of Seoul’s signature nighttime tourism attractions. About 197,000 people attended the seven performances held through October 9 this year. Average attendance was about 28,000 per show, at least 2.5 times the figure for 2023, the year the event was first held.
Notably, foreign visitors accounted for 34.6% of the total attendance at the five performances held in the first half of this year. Card sales at businesses near Ttukseom Hangang Park on performance days were up 39% from usual, while spending by foreign cardholders rose 402%, according to the findings.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects large crowds on the day of the event and plans to deploy more safety personnel and increase the number of subway services passing through Jayang Station. Depending on crowding, trains may pass through Jayang Station without stopping, and the performance schedule may also change in the event of severe weather.
Cho Seong-ho, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “The Han River Drone Light Show is a signature nighttime tourism attraction that combines world-class content with the appeal of Seoul. With a variety of DC-themed visuals and special programs brought to life by 2,000 drones, we will create wonderful autumn-night memories for the public.”
