[Financial News] Kim Yoon, chairman of Samyang Holdings Corporation, emphasized upgrading businesses around global markets and specialty products (high-performance products), as well as the transition to artificial intelligence (AI), as the company marked its 102nd anniversary. He called for securing stable cash flow and strengthening business competitiveness to respond to an uncertain business environment.
According to Samyang Group on the 25th, Chairman Kim said in his anniversary address, “Ours is a brilliant 102-year history, but it cannot guarantee our future,” and urged employees to “keep in mind the upgrading of businesses centered on global markets and specialty products, management centered on stable cash flow, and AI-based AX transformation, and take the lead in the group’s change and innovation.”
Chairman Kim cited this year’s key business achievements, including the acquisition of Japanese fragrance and cosmetics company Soda Aromatic and Samyang NC Chem’s expanded supply of high-value-added photoresist materials. He also mentioned changes in work practices through the establishment of the group’s own AI platform, Sami 2.0.
Chairman Kim identified geopolitical risks, fluctuations in crude oil prices, K-shaped economic polarization, and a widening AI gap between companies as key business environment variables. His point was that business restructuring and greater management efficiency are needed as domestic and international uncertainties grow.
On the 23rd, Samyang Group held the “Temperature of Sharing, 102 Degrees” event at eight Korean Red Cross volunteer centers in the Seoul metropolitan area to mark its 102nd anniversary. Around 200 employees, including members of the group’s senior leadership, took part in baking volunteer activities.
Employees made four types of bread in total, including two products from Samyang Corporation’s frozen-dough brand Frepang. Samyang Group plans to deliver around 4,000 items to vulnerable groups in the Seoul metropolitan area, combining the bread made on the day of the event with additional bread to be produced by the end of this month.
The group also held a blood donation certificate drive. From the 4th of last month through the 23rd of this month, it operated a blood donation bus for employees and collected around 550 blood donation certificates. The donated certificates will be delivered through the Korean Red Cross to patients who need transfusions and social welfare organizations, among others.
Samyang Group conducts social contribution activities focused on talent development, environmental conservation, and health promotion. Last year, for its 101st anniversary, it held the “Purpose Walk 10.1” event, in which around 200 employees walked 10.1 km at Seoul Grand Park’s forest bathing area.
