The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) said on the 25th that it will hold a welcome ceremony that day for the South Korean delegation returning from the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, together with the Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC), at 4:30 p.m. at Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport.
About 300 people, including delegation head Park Heung-sik, delegation members, family members and officials, are expected to attend. A report on the competition results will be presented, and the delegation flag will be returned. The ceremony will also recognize the efforts of those who helped prepare for the competition and provide support on site, as well as those of the athletes.
The competition was held from the 18th to the 24th in Nagoya and other locations in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It was the fifth Asian Para Games, and unlike previous editions, all 18 sports were official Paralympic sports. The South Korean delegation competed against athletes from across Asia in athletics, boccia, blind football, judo, powerlifting and swimming, among other sports.
The MCST plans to support efforts to turn the attention drawn by national team athletes’ performances into greater participation in community sports by people with disabilities. It also plans to broaden opportunities for participation so people with disabilities can enjoy sports close to home.
Kang Dae-geum, the MCST’s sports cooperation officer, said, “We welcome the return of the South Korean delegation, who gave their best on the Asian stage,” adding, “We will continue working to help more people with disabilities find enjoyment and vitality through sports.”
