[Financial News] Huh Tae-soo, chairman of GS Group, visited Seoul World Cup Stadium in person and applauded the FC Seoul squad in congratulations and encouragement after the team claimed the K League 1 title for the first time in 10 years.
Led by head coach Kim Gi-dong, FC Seoul clinched the title early with a 1-1 draw against Gangwon FC in their home match on the 24th, the final 33rd round of the 2026 Bank of Hope K League 1 regular season, at Seoul World Cup Stadium. The draw left Seoul with 20 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses (67 points), putting them 16 points clear of second-place Ulsan HD (51 points). With five matches remaining in the Final Round, Seoul celebrated the title well ahead of time.
On the significant day FC Seoul clinched the title, Chairman Huh visited the stadium and lent his support to the squad, alongside an event inviting the families of employees of affiliates including GS, GS Energy and GS E&R. After watching the match, Huh met with the squad and encouraged them, saying, “During my last visit, I asked you to have a healthy season without injuries, and you responded by winning the title for the first time in 10 years. I applaud all your hard work, and I want to share today’s joy with the fans who have long hoped for a championship.”
In response, captain Kim Jin-soo said, “Chairman Huh came to see us in person, and that was a clear source of motivation for the players.”
As the club’s owner, Huh has consistently emphasized “Fan First” and continued investing in stronger fan services, including developing FC Seoul’s mobile app, creating customer-focused merchandise and improving stadium amenities. As a result, FC Seoul averaged more than 22,000 spectators this season, achieving success both on the pitch and in popularity.
GS Group operates the FC Seoul football club and the GS Caltex volleyball team through its affiliate GS Sports. After GS Caltex won the 2026 Yeosu NH Nonghyup Cup last week, FC Seoul also lifted the K League 1 trophy, giving GS Sports its best results of the year.
