[Financial News] Korea Aerospace University and Gyeongsang National University have joined forces to jointly develop talent in aerospace and defense, key national industries. The two universities have created a new model for cooperation in which capital-region and regional universities share educational and research resources across regional boundaries.
KAU said it held an in-person signing ceremony with Gyeongsang National University on the 23rd in the university's local government-industry-academia cooperation seminar room in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, to develop talent and conduct joint research in aerospace and defense. Building on the agreement the two universities signed in writing this past July, representatives met in person that day and finalized detailed implementation plans.
Under the agreement, the two universities will jointly run curricula centered on field training in partnership with companies and research institutions. They also plan to share their advanced facilities, research equipment and data, and to conduct interdisciplinary education and research incorporating artificial intelligence.
The expertise of KAU, which has strengths across the aerospace field, will be combined with the infrastructure of Gyeongsang National University, which leads a university cooperation network across Gyeongsangnam-do, Busan and Ulsan. This is expected to accelerate the development of tailored talent ready to work in the field from day one.
KAU President Heo Hee-young said, “To ensure this agreement does not remain a mere formality, we will establish channels for faculty members from both universities to communicate directly and work together to achieve tangible results across education and R&D.”
Gyeongsang National University President Kweon Jin-hwe said, “To strengthen competitiveness in aerospace and defense, it is important to link the specialized capabilities of universities and closely connect education and research with industry.” He added, “Through continued cooperation with Korea Aerospace University, we will provide students with broad educational opportunities.”
