[Financial News] Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who was acquitted on appeal of charges of violating the Political Funds Act, said that “although belated, the truth has finally found its place” and that he would focus on governing Seoul going forward. After the appellate ruling on the 23rd, Oh posted a message on Facebook titled “My heartfelt thanks to everyone who believed in me and watched over me,” saying, “Today, I was acquitted on appeal. Although belated, the truth has finally found its place. I believe that justice will ultimately prevail.”
He apologized for causing the public concern during the trial. Oh said, “Although I should have acted with greater care and left no room for criticism as a public official, the very fact that I had to go back and forth between the prosecution and the courts to stand trial caused the public great concern. I deeply regret that, whatever the circumstances, and will conduct myself with an even stricter attitude as a public official going forward.”
He also thanked the citizens who chose him again in the Seoul mayoral election held while the trial was underway, emphasizing, “I will work even harder and repay your trust with results, so that I do not betray the faith you have placed in me.”
Oh added, “I will now devote myself to governing Seoul with an even greater sense of responsibility. I will make Seoul a special city for quality of life, where every single person can be happy.”
