[Financial News] The first general public housing sale in the Siheung Geomo district will offer 300 apartments.
The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) said on the 23rd that it had issued that day a notice inviting prospective residents to apply for public-sale housing in Block S-1 of the Siheung Geomo public housing district. The complex will comprise five buildings, with up to 20 floors. The 59- and 84-sq.-m units are divided into three types. The 84A type accounts for the largest share, with 214 units, followed by 52 of the 59B type and 34 of the 59A type. The homes cannot be resold for three years after the contract is signed, and buyers must live in them for the same period.
The Siheung Geomo district is a public housing development covering about 1.52 million sq. m in and around Geomo-dong and Gunja-dong in Siheung-si, with 11,000 homes planned. Last August, 290 public-sale units with 55 sq. m of exclusive floor area were offered in Block A-5 as part of the Newlywed Hope Town program, at an average price of around 440 million won. Block S-1 is the district’s first general public-sale offering not restricted to specific groups such as newlyweds.
Proximity to jobs is considered a key advantage. The Banwol-Sihwa National Industrial Complex, Baegot New Town and the planned Ansan Science Valley can all be reached in around 10 minutes by car. Seo-Ansan IC and Gunja Junction provide easy access to the Yeongdong Expressway, the Pyeongtaek-Siheung Expressway and National Route 39, making it convenient to travel to southwestern Seoul, Incheon Metropolitan City, Suwon and Gwangmyeong-si.
Singil Oncheon Station, served by Seoul Subway Line 4 and the Suin–Bundang Line, is a five-minute drive away. LH expects access to Yeouido and Pangyo to improve significantly once the Sinansan Line and the Wolgot–Pangyo Line (an extension of the Gyeonggang Line) open at Siheung City Hall Station on the Seohae Line, a 10-minute drive away. However, construction of the Sinansan Line was halted after a tunnel collapse in the Gwangmyeong section last April, and its opening has been repeatedly delayed. Preparatory work to restore the affected section only resumed last September.
The complex will include childcare facilities such as a daycare center and a playground for young children, as well as a fitness center, a small library and a residents’ café. Elementary and middle schools are within walking distance, and Shinsegae Premium Outlet, the Traders Ansan branch, Sandeul Park and Jegicheon Riverside Park are also nearby.
