[Financial News] The story has emerged of residents of an apartment complex in Mokdong, Seoul, working together for the sixth year in a row to provide winter homes for stray cats.
On the 21st, a post and video appeared on Threads, a social networking service (SNS). The post described it as “a rare sight: apartment residents all working together to make winter homes for stray cats.”
According to the author, identified as A, the apartment complex where A lives in Mokdong, Yangcheon District, Seoul, has a stray-cat shelter that residents manage together. This is its sixth year.
The video shared publicly showed residents getting to work on winter homes for stray cats ahead of winter.
A resident with an engineering background set up the winter home, while residents who have cared for the stray cats for years reportedly arranged the interior with the cats’ movements and habits in mind.
A, who usually makes dresses, made a cushion for the winter home themselves.
In the video, A said, “Could there be another apartment complex like this?” and “The stray cats at our apartment complex are really living the high life.”
A went on to say, “It’s turned out so cozy that if I ever had a fight with my husband, I’d want to come here, eat cup noodles and unwind.” A added, “Let’s stay healthy this winter too.”
People who came across the story responded, “It’s beautiful to see even small lives being cherished,” “The cats are warm, and it warms my heart too,” and “Thanks to them, the stray cats will have a warm winter.”
Others continued to praise the residents, saying, “Luxury residents in a luxury apartment,” “You can tell a person’s character just by how they treat animals,” and “The best apartment with the best people.”
Quite a few people online also expressed envy, comparing the story with the situation at their own apartment complexes: “Our apartment even held a vote to ban feeding stray cats. I’m ashamed,” “Our apartment took down the cat shelters as soon as the representative changed,” and “Our apartment is holding a vote on whether to remove the stray-cat shelters, and I’m jealous.”
