[Financial News] Korea Land Trust is joining forces with DA Group Engineering Architects Office, a company specializing in urban renewal project design, to strengthen its expertise and execution capabilities in urban complex development.
According to Korea Land Trust on the 23rd, DA Group has built a track record in design for major urban renewal projects in Seoul, including the reconstruction of Apgujeong Districts 2 and 4 and the housing redevelopment of District 4 in the Seongsu Strategic Renewal Zone. It has expertise in large-scale apartment complex layouts, floor-plan design and design integrated with urban planning.
Under the agreement, the two companies will work closely to advance urban complex development projects that simultaneously increase housing supply and improve urban hub functions, focusing on areas around transit stations and aging downtown districts. Specifically, they will jointly identify candidate sites for urban complex development projects and prepare basic architectural designs; develop efficient layouts for residential, commercial and office facilities; review public contribution plans for the designation of innovation districts and project implementers; and conduct preliminary reviews of permits and approvals to expedite projects.
In particular, from the early stages of each project, the companies plan to comprehensively consider the scale of housing supply, everyday amenities and public contribution plans to improve the quality of architectural plans and develop optimized directions tailored to the characteristics of each project site.
Urban complex development projects were introduced under the Act on Support for Urban Complex Development, which took effect in February 2025, to support areas that are difficult to develop through conventional urban renewal projects alone. The system is divided into growth-hub and residential-centered types. Korea Land Trust is currently pursuing related projects after being designated as the prospective project implementer for urban complex development projects in the areas around Suan Station in Dongnae, Busan, and Gwanak Station in Manan, Anyang.
A Korea Land Trust representative said, “Through this agreement, we will improve the quality of basic designs so that stakeholders, including land and property owners and local governments, can carefully review project plans from the early stages,” adding, “We will review permitting issues in advance to reduce uncertainty and move projects forward at a faster pace.”
