【Financial News Yeosu = Hwang Tae-jong】A spectacular fireworks festival will unfold against the backdrop of Yeosu’s night sea on the 31st.
According to Yeosu City on the 23rd, the ‘2026 Yeosu Night Sea Fireworks Festival’ will be held on the 31st at the Yeosu World Expo Site in Deokchung-dong, a secondary venue for the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.
A Yeosu City official stressed, “We are doing our utmost to prepare so that both citizens and tourists can enjoy the festival safely and have a good time.”
Yeosu City initially considered holding the festival at Jinmo District in Dolsan, the main venue for the Island Expo. However, taking into account the difficulty of bringing tugboats in because of the shallow waters off Jinmo District and concerns about damage to nearby fish farms, the city finalized the expo site as the venue.
Yeosu City plans to invite an overseas production team and present a colorful fireworks show themed around ‘Stories of the Island.’
A variety of events will also be held in conjunction with the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo. Citizens and visitors can sample a range of island foods at the ‘2026 Yeosu Island Food Festa,’ held at the Expo Digital Gallery (EDG) inside the Yeosu World Expo Site. They can also enjoy various performances, including ‘Island Friends Day (Hawaii),’ at Jinmo District in Dolsan.
For visitors’ convenience, Yeosu City will run additional shuttle buses on the day of the event between the Island Expo’s main venue and Yeosu Expo Station. The aim is to let citizens and visitors experience the island activities at the main venue during the day, then watch the fireworks show at the secondary venue in the evening and enjoy Yeosu’s attractions throughout the day.
Yeosu City also plans to deploy some 570 safety personnel on the day of the event to manage crowds at the site and prevent safety accidents, so that the many visitors can watch the show safely.
A Yeosu City official said, “Please visit the ‘Yeosu Night Sea Fireworks Festival’ website for details, including traffic and parking information,” and added, “We hope you enjoy the spectacular fireworks display against the backdrop of Yeosu’s night sea.”
