[Financial News] People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk said on the 23rd, “The real ‘action plan’ for creating a safe society is for President Lee Jae Myung to step down.” President Lee had convened a ‘Pan-Government Meeting on Response to an Ultra-Safe Society’ that day after a string of violent crimes and spoke of the need for a ‘Pan-Government Action Plan for an Ultra-Safe Society’; Jang was mocking those remarks.
Jang made the remark in a post on social media (SNS) that day, saying, “‘Pan-government action plan for an ultra-safe society’—they’re really good at stringing words together.”
Jang held President Lee responsible for the repeated violent crimes in recent days. He said, “The National Police Agency chief, who is responsible for public safety, has been vacant for nearly two years. Since Justice Minister Kim Seung-won was ousted, they haven’t even found a successor. They have barely managed to appoint the head of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, and the head of the Prosecution Service is also vacant. Who is supposed to be responsible for public safety in a situation like this?”
He claimed, “This is not a pan-government action plan but a pan-acting-government action plan. Far from becoming an ultra-safe society, we are heading toward an ultra-dangerous society.”
He went on to criticize him, saying, “President Lee says to approach it with ‘the resolve to declare war.’ Is that what being prepared for war looks like, when he himself goes sightseeing even as a knife-wielding rampage is underway?”
Jang said, “The success or failure of a war depends on the commander’s resolve and capabilities,” and pointed out, “As long as President Lee is in that position, the Republic of Korea will only become more dangerous.”
