【Hanoi, Vietnam—Correspondent Kim Joon-seok】Seo Won-sam, minister and consul general at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, met with leaders of the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee to discuss ways to expand cooperation between Korean institutions and businesses and local counterparts. The two sides agreed to focus on labor cooperation, Korean-language education and cultural exchanges.
According to local media on the 23rd, a delegation from the embassy led by Seo Won-sam, minister and consul general at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, met with Dinh Huu Hoc, standing vice chairman of the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, at the committee headquarters in Lang Son on the 22nd.
Seo emphasized that “strengthening exchanges and cooperation between local governments and partners in the two countries is important to giving practical effect to the Korea-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.” He also asked the Lang Son provincial government to continue paying attention to protecting the citizens of both countries and to cooperate closely with the embassy.
Seo also proposed expanding exchanges and cooperation between local governments in the two countries in labor and employment, with a focus on the seasonal worker program. He added that this could bring mutual benefits, including higher incomes for local workers, the transfer of advanced agricultural practices and technology, and stronger friendly ties between the two regions.
Vice Chairman Hoc expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the active support of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and related organizations, cooperation between Lang Son and its Korean partners has achieved remarkable results.”
Vice Chairman Hoc outlined Lang Son’s potential and future development plans, and asked Seo and the embassy delegation for support in expanding labor cooperation and the dispatch of seasonal workers, providing Korean-language education for public officials and local personnel, and actively promoting cultural exchanges. He also asked them to help pave the way for the expansion in Lang Son of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) projects in areas including social security, the environment, health and rural development.
He also asked the Korean Embassy to continue facilitating links between Korean companies and Lang Son so that investment opportunities could be explored in logistics, the border economy, eco-friendly industries, advanced technology, renewable energy and tourism.
The two sides agreed at the meeting to further strengthen ties between Korean local governments, institutions and businesses and Lang Son. They plan to prioritize practical tasks, particularly the dispatch of seasonal workers, Korean-language education for public officials, cultural exchanges and the protection of Korean nationals overseas.
