[Financial News] A technology has been developed that can collect security logs without omission and store them in order even when a network outage occurs in a cloud environment. It is expected to help analyze cyberattacks and signs of system abnormalities more accurately by linking records from before and after an outage.
IGLOO Corporation said on the 23rd that it had obtained a patent for a “cloud-based log management server” that maintains the continuity of log data even during network outages.
Log records are data documenting various activities, such as access and operations, that occur on servers or systems. In cloud environments, multiple servers and services are connected over a network, so log transmission can be interrupted even by a temporary outage. If records from before and after an outage are not linked in order after service is restored, it becomes harder to determine how a security incident occurred or identify signs of anomalies.
A key feature of IGLOO Corporation’s patented technology is that it automatically switches the method of log transmission according to the network connection status. Under normal conditions, it transmits logs to cloud storage in real time; if an outage occurs, it temporarily stores logs from that period as files. Once the network is restored, it transmits all the stored logs at once.
The technology maintains the order of records by applying an “offset” technique, which assigns sequential numbers beginning after the last log recorded just before an outage. It can also predict outages in advance by comparing network signal strength and intervals with data from past outages. After service is restored, it increases the transmission speed depending on how long the outage lasted, allowing it to catch up on backlogged logs quickly.
IGLOO Corporation plans to use the technology to strengthen its AI-based security operations capabilities. The company is currently working to build an “autonomous security operations center (SOC)” that integrates the collection and analysis of security data in environments combining cloud and on-premises systems, with AI detecting and responding to threats.
Lee Deuk-chun, CEO of IGLOO Corporation, said, “As cloud adoption by businesses and institutions expands, the importance of foundational technologies that can collect security data without interruption and analyze it precisely—even amid variables such as network outages—is growing further.”
