[Financial News] SAMG Entertainment, a global IP content company, is bringing back its flagship IP, 'Catch! Teenieping,' for a seventh season. The new story, set against the backdrop of a music festival, combines collaborations with K-pop artists and a nationwide touring pop-up store series, expanding the IP business into music, character merchandise and offline experiences.
SAMG Entertainment announced on the 23rd that its new animated series, 'Jewel Star Catch! Teenieping,' will premiere on Nov. 18. The series will have 20 episodes, each 11 minutes long, and will debut on JEI Jaeneung TV at 7 p.m. on the day of its premiere. It will also be available on the global over-the-top (OTT) platform Disney+ from 8 p.m. that day.
This season is set at the Emotion Festival, a music festival in the Emotion Kingdom. The story follows Romi as she sets out with new Royal Teeniepings to find the missing Legend Teenieping and goes on an adventure to hold the festival. Love's Heartsping: The Legend of the Whale Jewel, Lemonping, Cherryping and Limeping appear as members of the idol group 'T-nyz.' Ahead of the premiere, SAMG Entertainment released T-nyz's song and music video on the 22nd.
'Catch! Teenieping' is a core IP for SAMG Entertainment, which has expanded its business into areas including toys and licensing based on the animated series. It has introduced a total of 153 characters to date, building a business foundation that spans content and character merchandise. In Season 7, the company is adopting music as a new theme and further expanding the ways it uses the IP by linking artist collaborations with offline events.
The OST 'Heart Stage,' featuring K-pop artist PLAVE, is also one of the season's key offerings. PLAVE personally introduced the collaboration track during an official Weverse LIVE in September. By extending the story's idol-group concept into an actual song and artist collaboration, the series is also broadening its reach to K-pop fans, in addition to its existing base of children and families.
Offline, SAMG Entertainment is partnering with Hyundai Premium Outlet to run pop-up stores at seven locations nationwide. The pop-up, which opened at the Homeplus Gimpo branch on the 15th, will roll out sequentially through March next year at locations including Daejeon, Busan, Songdo, Daegu, Cheongju and Space One.
A SAMG Entertainment representative said, "This Season 7 is distinguished by the way it organically connects a story centered on the Emotion Festival, collaborations with K-pop artists and nationwide offline events." The representative added, "Starting with the release of the animation on broadcast and OTT platforms, we plan to continue our business so that people can experience 'Catch! Teenieping' through a variety of touchpoints, including music, characters and in-person experiences."
