[Financial News] LG Uplus Corp.'s device care product 'Phone Replacement Pass' won an award at the Asian Innovation Excellence Awards in recognition of its innovative consumer experience, which streamlines repairs and supports device replacement.
Reduces the need for upfront repair payments and simplifies insurance claims
LG Uplus Corp. said on the 23rd that Phone Replacement Pass had won the Customer Experience Innovation Award in the telecommunications category at the 'Asian Innovation Excellence Awards 2026.'
The service reduces the burden of repair costs by covering repairs without requiring a separate insurance claim when a smartphone is damaged or malfunctions. It also supports device replacement if certain criteria are met.
The service expands the existing 'Mamdaero Phone Replacement' service and is designed to be used alongside manufacturer support programs such as AppleCare and Samsung Care.
Previously, when a device was damaged, customers had to report the incident, visit a repair center, pay the repair costs upfront, and then submit supporting documents to get reimbursed by their insurer—a cumbersome process.
LG Uplus Corp. linked the systems of manufacturers, insurers and global insurtech company bolttech in real time. By integrating device protection, insurance, manufacturer care and service fulfillment instead of handling each separately, it streamlined the process customers go through to resolve device problems.
iPhone repair support and free battery replacement
Phone Replacement Pass for iPhone 18 has no limits on the number of covered repairs or the coverage amount. The copayment for damage to the front or back display is 40,000 won for each. A copayment of 120,000 won applies to other repairs and repairs to the inner display of the iPhone Duo. The service also supports repairs under Apple's official AppleCare service, as well as repairs worldwide. The battery can be replaced free of charge if certain criteria are met.
The Asian Innovation Excellence Awards is an awards program that selects companies that achieve results through innovation and operational improvements or solve major challenges.
Lim Hye-gyeong, who oversees pricing products at LG Uplus Corp., said, "Phone Replacement Pass is a product focused on reducing the financial burden and complicated procedures customers face after their devices are damaged or malfunction," adding, "We will continue to identify the inconveniences customers experience while using smartphones and improve our device care services."
