[Financial News] In an aging society where “healthy life expectancy” has emerged as a major topic, an international academic conference will be held to scientifically examine the anti-aging benefits of red ginseng.
The Korean Society of Ginseng announced that it will hold the 14th International Symposium on Ginseng at Maison GLAD Jeju from the 26th to the 29th, under the slogan “The Role and Efficacy of Red Ginseng and Ginseng for a Smart Life.”
The International Symposium on Ginseng, hosted by the Korean Society of Ginseng and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korean Ginseng Association, is an academic conference that has been held every four years since its inaugural event in 1974. For more than 50 years, it has become a leading global forum for academic exchange, bringing together researchers from around the world to share the latest research findings and industry trends related to red ginseng and ginseng.
This year, around 800 experts from academia and industry across 14 countries, including Korea, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and China, will take part. Keynote speakers will include Professor Johan Auwerx of the School of Life Sciences at Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), a world-renowned scholar in metabolism and aging, as well as Professor Lee Ho-young of Seoul National University, Professor Kang Jong-soon of Sungkyunkwan University and Professor Na Seung-yeol of Konkuk University.
With aging and healthy life expectancy as its central themes, the symposium will focus on the anti-aging and antioxidant effects of red ginseng, which is drawing attention as an alternative for addressing aging and chronic diseases.
Research findings showing that red ginseng and its derived compounds alleviate oxidative stress and improve health-related quality of life and sleep quality will be presented first. The symposium will also address their effects on improving musculoskeletal conditions such as sarcopenia, as well as metabolic diseases associated with aging. The benefits of red ginseng for brain health, including its effects on memory loss and dementia, will also be presented, followed by a range of studies on aging mechanisms and healthy life expectancy, including gut health and energy metabolism.
Chairman Kim Jong-hoon said, “For more than 50 years, the International Symposium on Ginseng has been a leading international academic event where experts from around the world verify the scientific efficacy and mechanisms of action of red ginseng and ginseng and exchange the latest research.” He added, “This symposium will focus on aging and healthy life expectancy, the issues of greatest interest in an aging society, and I hope many of you will look forward to it.”
