[Financial News] Nonghyup Bank is joining forces with Vietnam’s leading bank and Changwon National University to support Vietnamese students.
According to financial industry sources on the 23rd, Nonghyup Bank signed an agreement on attracting Vietnamese students and supporting financial services with Vietnam’s Agribank and Changwon National University in Hanoi, Vietnam, on the 22nd.
Under the agreement, Agribank will promote Changwon National University’s recruitment of Vietnamese students through various channels, including its local branches. Agribank, which has the largest branch network in Vietnam, plans to use its extensive presence to raise the university’s profile locally and support its efforts to recruit Vietnamese students.
Nonghyup Bank and Agribank will also provide Vietnamese students with the financial services they need, from preparing to study abroad through their enrollment in Korea. They plan to coordinate support in both countries for financial services needed before and after students go abroad, including foreign exchange transactions such as remittances for tuition and living expenses.
Earlier, Nonghyup Bank and Agribank signed an MOU on “strategic cooperation” last April and have pursued collaboration in various areas, including expanding their customer bases, launching a card-based international remittance service, marketing cards linked to K-content, and cooperating on Agribank’s privatization.
Last July, Agribank President Pham Toan Vuong and other executives and working-level staff visited South Korea, held a strategy meeting, and fleshed out plans for cooperation.
Ji Seong-uk, head of Nonghyup Bank’s Hanoi Financial Center, who attended the signing ceremony, said, “This agreement is significant because it supports Changwon National University, an institutional client, in attracting Vietnamese students while providing them with convenient financial services and expanding our bank’s foreign customer base. We will work closely together to develop this into a cooperation model that benefits Vietnamese students as well as Changwon National University and Agribank.”
