[Financial News] The story of a customer who ordered five sweet potato lattes at a cafe in Ulsan but specifically asked, “Please don’t make them at all,” has touched people. The customer, who lives in another region, wanted to express gratitude after hearing how the cafe owner had cared for a stray cat with a broken jaw for nearly a year.
On the 21st, A, who runs a restaurant near Ulsan City Hall, posted a photo of a receipt on the social media platform Thread along with a post saying, “An order for five drinks came in at the cafe.”
The receipt was received by the owner of the cafe right next to A’s restaurant. The order, placed on the 13th, included the request: “Boss, absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, please don’t make the drinks.”
It also contained the message: “I live in another region. Thank you for treating the cat. Work less and earn more. Wishing you success.”
The order came after the customer saw a post A had uploaded to Thread that same day. Earlier, on the 13th, A had shared the story of Latte, a stray cat living in front of the cafe.
A wrote that the cat “had been wandering around the neighborhood with a broken jaw, perhaps after being hit by something,” and added, “It couldn’t even eat properly. It would definitely have died if left like that.”
The cafe owner did not turn away from the cat, arranged surgery for it, and then cared for it for nearly a year. A said, “It’s almost completely recovered now, and it’s part of the family,” adding, “The owner even got a little house for the cat beside the shop.”
A said, “Just two hours after I posted the story about the cat with the broken jaw, someone from somewhere other than Ulsan ordered lattes they wouldn’t even drink,” adding, “The order was for five sweet potato lattes, and the cat’s name is ‘Latte.’”
A said, “The cafe owner told me, ‘It brought me to tears to know that someone somewhere I don’t even know understands how I feel,’” adding, “The owner still hasn’t thrown away the receipt.”
Latte’s health has recently taken a turn for the worse again, however, and the cat needs to go back to the hospital. A wrote, “I hope Latte pulls through again this time, with the kind wishes of the person who ordered five lattes.”
After the story became known, the number of people who had ordered lattes they couldn’t drink reportedly rose to 10 as of the 22nd. A said, “The owner is calling all ten people one by one, but said they can’t fully express how grateful they are.”
Through A, the cafe owner said, “You don’t need to place any more orders. I’ll gratefully accept your kind thoughts alone,” and shared that the owner had decided to express their gratitude to those who ordered by writing them letters. A urged people to “please wait a little before contacting or visiting the cafe directly,” adding, “The owner is quite startled.”
People who heard the story responded with comments such as, “This is faith in humanity,” “Kindness comes back to you as good things,” “A cat’s repayment,” and “I hope everyone who puts their heart into things so generously does well.”
