[Financial News] Snacks were provided to around 1,000 people, including firefighters, military personnel and police officers, who took part in a large-scale disaster response drill.
According to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association on the 23rd, it sent a snack truck to the National-Level Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Training site in the Yeongjongdo area of Incheon on the 22nd and served churros, fish cakes and other snacks.
The drill, organized by the Incheon Fire Headquarters and the National Fire Agency (NFA), simulated complex disasters, including a performance venue collapse and fire caused by a magnitude-6.5 earthquake and the collapse of a connecting bridge. The snacks were provided to give personnel taking part in the drill a brief break.
This year, Hope Bridge has provided snacks to 550 participants in a Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters drill and 440 participants in a Daegu Fire Headquarters drill. Including the Yeongjongdo site, around 2,000 people have received support this year. Last year, it supported around 1,400 people at six fire-service training sites nationwide.
A campaign to improve perceptions of firefighters, “I Am a Firefighter,” is also underway. The nationwide petition in support of firefighters is nearing 210,000 signatures.
Hope Bridge also plans to work with the NFA to launch a “Firefighter Family Healing Camp” to support the psychological well-being of firefighters and their families.
Shin Hoon, secretary-general of Hope Bridge, said, “I am deeply grateful to firefighters who work up a sweat in realistic training to protect people’s lives,” adding, “We will spare no effort to provide steadfast support so firefighters can carry out their duties in good health.”
