According to the Busan Museum of Art on the 23rd, up to eight artists or teams will be selected to participate in “Young Vision, New Perspective 2027.” The call is open to artists working in all fields of visual art.
Applicants must be artists aged 20 to 40. They must meet at least one of the following criteria: be born in Busan; have graduated from an elementary, middle, or high school, or a university in Busan; have lived in Busan for at least three years; or have been working at a studio in Busan for at least one year.
Previous participants in “Young Vision, New Perspective” and students currently enrolled in elementary, middle, or high school or university are not eligible to apply. However, graduate students and university students who have completed all semesters and are delaying graduation may apply.
The review will take place in two stages. After an initial document review this December, experts will review portfolios and visit studios, among other steps, in January and February next year before the final participating artists are selected.
The selected artists will take part in “Young Vision, New Perspective 2027,” scheduled to be held next April. The museum plans to continue supporting overseas exhibitions and the development of domestic and international networks for two to three years after the exhibition.
“Young Vision, New Perspective” is a regular exhibition launched in 1999 to discover young artists from the region. Last year’s exhibition was held at the Sungkok Art Museum in Seoul. Eight participating artists presented 46 works, including paintings, installations, and video works.
Seo Jin-seok, director of the Busan Museum of Art, described the annual exhibition as “an important exhibition that supports young artists as they explore new artistic possibilities and create new currents in local art.”
Applications will be accepted for 31 days, from today through November 22. Applications must be submitted by email. The call guidelines and application forms are available under notices and announcements on the museum’s website.
