[Financial News] Singer Car, the garden (35) shared an update on losing weight to manage high blood pressure.
Car, the garden recently appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Badeunus BDNS’ and said, “My weight once got up to nearly 99 kg.” The singer continued, “I lost weight because of high blood pressure,” and revealed, “I lost about 7–8 kg and had a health checkup, and my blood pressure went down.”
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, high blood pressure has indeed been found to be closely related to body weight.
If a person with high blood pressure is at least 10% above their standard body weight, even losing around 5 kg can lead to a marked drop in blood pressure. Weight loss is also beneficial for patients with diabetes, dyslipidemia, or left ventricular hypertrophy.
The blood-pressure-lowering effect of weight loss is further enhanced when it is combined with exercise, limiting alcohol intake, and reducing salt consumption.
Car, the garden’s statement that “I started eating less food ordered for delivery” after losing weight also appears to have had a positive effect on blood pressure management.

Depending on the type, delivered food can be high in sodium, so people should be careful not to eat too much of it. Stews and soup-based dishes, chicken, and pizza, for example, are often prepared with salt and various seasonings, making it easy for sodium intake to rise. Excessive sodium intake can increase the amount of water in the body and raise blood pressure, so people with high blood pressure need to be cautious.
The Korean Society of Hypertension recommends reducing daily salt intake to less than 6 g. It says that cutting daily salt intake in half from 10 g may lower systolic blood pressure by about 4–6 mmHg.
To manage blood pressure, it is important to improve lifestyle habits by reducing sodium intake and maintaining a healthy weight. If blood pressure readings are repeatedly high, people should visit a healthcare facility to have their condition accurately assessed and continue to manage it.
