[Financial News] Police have sought an arrest warrant for a woman in her 40s accused of killing her mother in Seoul’s Gangseo-gu district.
Police said on the 23rd that Seoul Gangseo Police Station had sought an arrest warrant the previous night for Ms. Park, a woman in her 40s, on suspicion of parricide.
Ms. Park is suspected of killing her mother, who was in her 60s, at her home in Ujangsan-dong, Gangseo-gu, the previous day.
Police responded after receiving Park’s report around 8:15 a.m. the previous day and arrested her at the scene around 8:40 a.m. At the time of her arrest, she was charged with murder, but the charge was later changed to parricide after police confirmed that Park and the victim were biological mother and daughter.
After police arrived at the scene, Park’s daughter also called in from outside to report that “Mom is saying strange things, and Grandma isn’t answering the phone.”
Only Park and the victim were at the home at the time of the crime. Police determined that four family members usually lived there.
Police obtained a statement from the bereaved family saying that Park had sometimes shown negative feelings toward the victim, including telling her to leave or swearing at her. No financial connection or history of animosity has been identified.
Police said they believed a weapon had been used in the crime the previous day and would determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy and other means. They are also investigating the specific circumstances of the case, including the motive.
