[Financial News] A video has been released showing the driver and passenger of a car lifting a parking barrier by hand, damaging it, and driving away to avoid paying the parking fee.
A video titled “What self-service exit method did they choose instead of paying the parking fee?” was uploaded to the YouTube channel “CapsTV” on the 22nd.
The video shows a man getting out of a passenger car stopped in front of a parking lot barrier and then forcibly lifting the barrier.
When the barrier did not lift easily, the driver reached out to help, and the two drove the car through the opening and left the scene.
The parking payment machine’s screen showed a charge of 20,000 won, and the two had forcibly lifted the barrier to avoid paying the parking fee.
The barrier was badly bent and damaged in the process.
The parking lot owner, who confirmed the incident on closed-circuit television (CCTV), reported it to police based on the footage. Police reportedly identified the vehicle using the CCTV footage they obtained.
Damaging the barrier could be treated as property damage or a similar offense, but what action police took has not been disclosed.
