[Financial News] GS E&C is expanding its energy infrastructure business in Australia. GS E&C has been building up its infrastructure project experience in Australia, having won the 10.1-trillion-won NEL road construction project in 2021 and the SRL railway tunnel construction project worth about 1.6 trillion won in 2024.
GS E&C announced on the 22nd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AusNet on the 21st (local time) at AusNet’s headquarters. AusNet is Victoria’s largest energy grid operator. The MOU aims to identify joint business opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
The two companies are currently jointly bidding for the New England REZ project, the development of Australia’s largest renewable energy zone (REZ), which the New South Wales (NSW) state government is pursuing as part of its clean energy transition. They also agreed to consider jointly taking part, through a joint venture (JV) or consortium, in major transmission network projects being pursued in New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria (VIC).
“We plan to strengthen our cooperation with AusNet and expand our business into energy infrastructure, including transmission networks,” a GS E&C official said.
