[Financial News] Professor Lee Han-gil of Ewha Womans University’s Department of Pharmacy donated 100 million won to help create a state-of-the-art research environment at his alma mater.
Ewha Womans University announced on the 22nd that Professor Lee Han-gil had donated 100 million won to the Pharmacy School Construction Fund. The fund presentation ceremony was held on the 14th at the university’s main building in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The donation will go toward building a new College of Pharmacy as part of the university’s Ewha West Campus (EWC) project.
Professor Lee graduated from Ewha Womans University’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and earned a master’s degree from its graduate school. After serving as an assistant professor at Ajou University, he joined his alma mater as a professor in March last year. He had been making donations consistently even before his appointment. After contributing to the Pharmacy Faculty Scholarship Fund earlier this year, he has now readily made a substantial donation to improve his alma mater’s research environment.
Ewha Womans University plans to use the donated funds to create a state-of-the-art educational space where outstanding researchers and students can focus on their research.
Ewha Womans University President Lee Hyang-suk said, “I am grateful that, despite having joined us only recently, you have continued to contribute substantial funds to the university,” adding, “We will do our utmost to support faculty and students in achieving world-class results through the new College of Pharmacy.”
Professor Lee Han-gil said, “Thanks to the love I received from my mentors during my student days, I was able to fulfill my dream of becoming a professor,” adding, “I am happy to be able to return to my alma mater and serve, and I will continue to contribute to the university’s development.”
Among the key figures from within and outside the university who attended the ceremony that day were Professor Lee Han-gil; President Lee Hyang-suk; Heo Eun-gyeong, president of the College of Pharmacy Alumni Association; Park Jeong-su, vice president for research and external affairs; and Hwang Eun-suk, dean of the College of Pharmacy.
