[Financial News] Six professors at Sookmyung Women's University have been named to the list of the top 2% of researchers worldwide with the greatest academic influence.
Sookmyung Women's University announced on the 22nd that six of its professors had been selected for the single-year category of the '2026 World's Top 2% Scientists,' announced jointly by Stanford University in the United States and global scholarly publisher Elsevier.
The six researchers selected for the single-year category are Professor Kim Yun-young of the Division of Mechanical Systems Engineering; Professors Kang Gyo-bin, Kim Do-hui and Kim Tae-hyeon of the College of Pharmacy; Professor Yoon Yo-han of the Department of Food and Nutrition; and Professor Park Su-hyeon of the Division of Software. Their research achievements have been recognized in key fields directly connected to industry, including mechanical engineering and pharmacy, artificial intelligence and software, and food and nutrition.
The 'World's Top 2% Scientists' list is compiled based on the global academic database Scopus, through a comprehensive assessment of factors such as the number of citations a researcher's papers receive and the researcher's impact indicators. The criteria are divided into a 'single-year' category, which evaluates results from the past year, and a 'career-long achievement' category, which covers a researcher's entire career.
Three researchers were selected for the 'career-long achievement' category, which evaluates accomplishments over the course of a research career: Professor Kim Yun-young, Professor Yang Mi-hui of the College of Pharmacy, and Professor Kim Byeong-gyu of the Division of Artificial Intelligence Engineering. Kim Yun-young was named in both the single-year and career-long achievement categories.
Sookmyung Women's University plans to increase support for outstanding researchers and promote interdisciplinary collaborative research and international joint research based on these results, continuing to strengthen its research competitiveness.
