【Financial News, Chuncheon = Kim Gi-seop, Reporter】With 440 metric tons of produce, including Gangwon-grown radishes, potatoes and napa cabbage, set to be served in major corporations’ cafeterias, farmers in the province have secured a stable, large-scale market.
Gangwon State said on the 22nd that it had held a promotional event for the Everyone’s Win-Win Project with Hyundai Green Food at noon that day at a Hyundai affiliate’s headquarters building in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The Everyone’s Win-Win Project is an initiative led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) to increase consumption of local agricultural products and lay the groundwork for mutually beneficial cooperation between agriculture and businesses.
Through this partnership, Hyundai Green Food purchased 300 metric tons of Gangwon-grown radishes, 100 metric tons of potatoes and 40 metric tons of napa cabbage, for a total of about 440 metric tons of produce. The products are expected to be consumed in large quantities through corporate meal programs, helping secure stable sales channels for the province’s agricultural products.
At the event, employees were served special menu items made with Gangwon produce and signature dishes by Chef Kang Leo. Hyundai Green Food partnered with Gangwon The Mall, Gangwon State’s agricultural and food products shopping mall, to sell local products—including those certified under the rural convergence industry program—to employees at a 35% discount. The Gangwon Rural Convergence Industry Support Center showcased certified products and highlighted the quality of Gangwon’s agricultural and food products. Events offering hands-on experiences with local specialties and promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program were also held.
Building on this event, the province plans to expand the use of Gangwon agricultural products in corporate meal programs and continue increasing cooperation with private companies so that products certified under the rural convergence industry program can enter online and offline distribution networks.
“The event demonstrated the competitiveness of Gangwon State’s agricultural and food products, with 440 metric tons of Gangwon-grown radishes, potatoes and napa cabbage going to corporate meal programs and processed products made from them as ingredients also being sold online,” a provincial official said. “We will expand cooperation with private companies further so that farmers can farm without worrying about finding markets and increase their income.”
