“Accidentally while peeling an apple...” Father injured in the abdomen; police investigate son in his 20s

[Financial News] In Jangsu, North Jeolla Province, police are investigating after a father in his 50s who was alone with his son in his 20s was injured by a sharp weapon.
According to Jangsu Police Station and other sources, police received a report from A at around 8:20 p.m. the previous day, saying he had been injured after dropping a sharp weapon at a house in Jangsu County.
A was taken to hospital for treatment and is not in a life-threatening condition. He told police, in essence, “While peeling an apple, I accidentally dropped the knife and injured my abdomen.”
However, considering the location of A’s injuries and the relatively heavy blood loss, police are also considering the possibility that it was not an accident. They are therefore investigating his son, B, on suspicion of inflicting bodily injury on his father. B is reportedly having difficulty providing a statement about the incident because he has a disability.
A police official said, “It may have been an accident, as A said, but it may not have been, so we are investigating with various possibilities open. It is difficult to comment in detail on the matter.”
