[Financial News] S-Oil Corporation (S-OIL) has built an integrated manufacturing operations management system at the “Shaheen plant,” which is set to begin commercial operations next year. The company plans to extend to the new plant its digital manufacturing operations system, which uses production, equipment, and safety data accumulated at existing plants, to support stable operations and efficient maintenance from the outset.
S-Oil Corporation said on the 22nd that it had completed the Phase 2 upgrade of its integrated manufacturing operations management system, S-imoms, as well as Phase 3, which extends the system to the Shaheen plant.
In Phase 3, S-imoms was implemented at the Shaheen plant, laying the groundwork for using standardized equipment and operations data from the start of operations.
S-imoms is S-Oil Corporation’s digital transformation project, linking the systems and data involved in all aspects of plant operations—including production, equipment, maintenance, inspection, and safety—on a single platform. Through the project, S-Oil Corporation has improved work processes and built an integrated manufacturing operations system that supports decision-making based on site data.
The Phase 2 upgrade strengthened data connections among key solutions. It enables information on equipment operation and performance, which had been dispersed across different systems, to be managed and analyzed together, helping the company assess plant operations and improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Safety management capabilities were also expanded. Eight modules—including management of change, incident management, and process hazard assessment—were added to the Process Safety and Operational Risk Management System (PSORMS), alongside the four existing modules centered on digital work permits. This enables more systematic management of risk factors across work sites and process operations.
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities were added to the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) module. Using accumulated safety data—including approximately 2,800 records of standardized job risk assessments, past accident cases, and risk factors for injuries and fatalities—the system helps identify potential hazards for each task and assess response measures.
Shim Hwan-seung, head of S-Oil Corporation’s Plant Innovation/Coordination Division, said, “The latest S-imoms upgrade and its expansion to the Shaheen plant have strengthened our ability to connect and use production, equipment, and safety data. Going forward, we will actively use data and AI to improve safety and operational efficiency at our sites and build an intelligent workplace where employees can work more safely and efficiently.”
