[Financial News] A daughter in her 40s suspected of killing her mother in Seoul’s Gangseo District has been arrested by police.
According to police on the 22nd, Seoul’s Gangseo Police Station urgently arrested A, a woman in her 40s, at her home in Ujangsan-dong, Gangseo District, at around 8:40 a.m. that day on suspicion of murder. A is suspected of killing her biological mother, who was in her 60s, at the home.
Police were dispatched to A’s home after receiving her voluntary report at around 8:15 a.m. that day. After officers arrived at the scene, A’s daughter also made an additional report from outside, saying, “Mom is saying strange things, and Grandma isn’t answering the phone.”
Only A and the victim were at home at the time of the crime. Four family members reportedly normally lived there.
Police obtained a statement from the bereaved family saying, “A has at times expressed negative feelings toward the victim, including telling her to leave or verbally abusing her.” No financial or grudge-related ties have been confirmed.
A police official said, “Now that A and the victim have been confirmed to be biological mother and daughter, we plan to change the charge to parricide.”
Police believe a weapon was used in the crime and plan to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy and other means. They also plan to establish the specific circumstances of the incident through questioning the suspect and examining the scene.
