[Financial News] News that the chief of Apgujeong Station on Seoul Subway Line 3 wrote and posted a thank-you letter to a nearby hotel and department store that opened their restrooms during renovation work on the station’s restrooms has warmed hearts.
On the 22nd, a photo was posted on Threads alongside the message, “I saw A4 sheets posted all along the way at Apgujeong Station, so I got curious and checked—and never expected the message to be so touching.” The photo was confirmed to show a letter written in the name of the Apgujeong Station chief on the 16th.
According to the letter, Apgujeong Station closed its restrooms for two weeks recently while improvement work was carried out in the station. Although there were concerns about inconvenience to passengers, nearby Andaz Hotel and Hyundai Department Store opened their restrooms, enabling the station to complete the work without major disruption.
In the letter, the station chief wrote, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at the hotel and department store who continued to welcome visitors kindly, even though the sudden increase in unfamiliar visitors must have caused you inconvenience,” adding, “The active cooperation and open-mindedness you showed during our discussions were a great source of strength to us.”
The station chief also expressed gratitude to the cleaning staff who had maintained the restrooms. “Thanks to your consistent, dedicated efforts to keep them clean, even though the workload must have increased considerably with far more visitors than usual, both staff and members of the public were able to use the restrooms without inconvenience,” the letter said. “I know well that your sweat and hard work, carried out quietly in roles that often go unnoticed, were a great support throughout the construction period. I sincerely thank you.”
Those who heard the story responded, “Given the nature of department stores and hotels, it must not have been an easy decision. That’s impressive,” “A good example of warm cooperation in the local community making things more convenient for the public,” “This is what they mean by repaying a huge debt with words,” and “I’m already incredibly moved this morning,” among other comments.
