[Financial News] BNK has moved beyond introducing artificial intelligence (AI) services for individual tasks and is working to establish AI infrastructure and a management framework that can be used across the group.
BNK announced on the 22nd that it had selected SDS as the preferred negotiating partner for its 'Groupwide Shared Generative AI Platform Development' project, which is aimed at driving digital innovation and improving work productivity across the group, and would now move ahead with the project in earnest.
The project aims to establish a standardized generative AI foundation that all group affiliates can use jointly and apply AI across various areas of work to improve efficiency and expand its use across the group.
BNK selected SDS as its preferred negotiating partner last month and is currently conducting technical discussions to flesh out the detailed project scope and system configuration.
BNK plans to roll out generative AI services in stages across various areas, including lookups of responsibilities and regulations, lending, foreign exchange, groupware and internal knowledge searches, using this platform. It plans to make AI services tailored to each affiliate available through the shared platform, reducing duplicative investment and boosting synergies from AI use across the group.
BNK is also pursuing the establishment of a governance framework for 'trusted AI' so that financial companies can use AI safely and responsibly.
Based on the results of AI governance consulting conducted primarily with the holding company, Busan Bank and BNK Kyongnam Bank, BNK plans to extend the framework to all its affiliates. In collaboration with Kim & Chang, it will also strengthen the group's AI management standards by incorporating AI-related guidelines and regulatory developments from financial authorities.
BNK will also establish an 'AI Governance Portal' to embed in day-to-day work the procedures and management framework needed to use AI.
A BNK official said, "We will successfully carry out this project, improving employees' work efficiency while building a safe AI-use environment that financial consumers can trust, and continue to strengthen the group's digital competitiveness."
