According to sources in the financial sector on the 22nd, BNK held a proposal evaluation committee in September and selected Samsung SDS as the preferred bidder after a comprehensive assessment of its technical capabilities, platform stability and ability to carry out the project. Technical negotiations are currently underway on the detailed scope of the project and system configuration.
The project was launched to establish a shared generative AI foundation for the group and apply it to a range of business functions. It is also expected to reduce duplicative investments by individual affiliates while increasing AI use across the group as a whole.
BNK plans to roll out generative AI services in phases, using the platform for tasks including searches for responsibilities and regulations, lending, foreign exchange, groupware and internal knowledge.
BNK will also establish a governance framework to manage risks arising from the use of AI. It plans to extend to all affiliates the results of consulting conducted with the holding company, Busan Bank and BNK Kyongnam Bank at the center, and to work with Kim & Chang to develop management standards that reflect financial regulators’ guidelines and regulatory trends.
BNK also plans to build an “AI Governance Portal” that manages every stage of AI services, from planning and development to evaluation, verification and operation, to enhance safety and transparency.
