[Financial News] Navigation service providers including Tmap Mobility Co., Ltd., Naver and Kakao Mobility Corp. are forming a council to share information on accidents, congestion and roadworks. They plan to link the road hazard information each company collects to identify unexpected incidents sooner and notify users.
Tmap Mobility Co., Ltd. said on the 22nd that it had signed an agreement with the Korea Expressway Corporation, Baembeoseu, Yuwon Geographic Information System, Mappers, Kakao Mobility Corp. and Naver to establish the Public-Private Traffic Safety Data Sharing Council (K-DFRS). The council’s name is an abbreviation of “Korea Data for Road Safety.”
The agreement was drawn up in connection with the 2026 Gangneung ITS World Congress to strengthen road traffic safety and promote AI-based mobility innovation. The participating organizations and companies agreed to share the road hazard information they hold and establish a system for linking the data.
Accident, congestion and roadwork information collected by TMAP, Naver, Kakao Mobility Corp. and Mappers will be shared. The core of the collaboration is to detect unexpected incidents sooner by linking information from multiple services.
Tmap Mobility Co., Ltd. plans to use the linked information for real-time traffic updates and detour guidance. The aim is to help users avoid congested areas caused by accidents or roadworks and prepare in advance for hazards ahead.
The council will establish a data-linking system and standards, and also work to build an AI-based system for automated responses to traffic conditions. It will also collaborate on joint policy proposals, technology demonstrations and expanding the reach of traffic safety services.
A Tmap Mobility Co., Ltd. representative said, “Through this collaboration, we will alert users to unexpected incidents on the road sooner and help them travel safely,” adding, “Tmap Mobility will continue to take the lead in creating a safer road environment through data and AI technology, and provide mobility services that allow users to drive with peace of mind.”
