[Financial News] Samsung C&T’s construction division is expanding its collaboration with Samsung Noble Life across the senior living business, from developing senior residences and nursing homes to providing life care services in multi-unit housing.
Samsung C&T said on the 22nd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Samsung Noble Life to collaborate on senior living businesses. Founded by Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Noble Life specializes in senior living and care. It has built up expertise over the past 25 years operating Yongin Samsung Noble County, a premium senior living community.
Under the agreement, the two companies will work together to pursue joint projects developing senior residences and nursing homes, create senior-focused life care services for multi-unit housing, and conduct joint research and development of AgeTech services.
First, they will jointly identify opportunities for new development and remodeling projects and work together from the planning stage. Samsung C&T will handle senior-focused design and construction and implement Everling, its AI-based senior living solution. Samsung Noble Life will oversee operations, with plans to establish spatial standards that take the care environment and operational flows into account from the planning stage.
In particular, they will extend professional life care services to seniors living in multi-unit housing. By linking health and lifestyle data collected by Everling with Samsung Noble Life’s professional care services, they plan to make services previously available only at senior residences accessible to residents of multi-unit housing, including conventional apartment complexes, and proactively respond to demand for “aging in place”—growing older in the home where one has lived.
They will also use Samsung Noble County as a test bed for joint research and development in AgeTech (AgerTech). Their plan is to actively incorporate on-site care data and feedback from residents and staff into the development process, turning effective technologies into services. The two companies have already strengthened their collaboration by jointly conducting technology trials with startups through the FutureScape program and testing whether Everling can reduce the workload on night shifts at a nursing home.
A Samsung Noble Life representative said, “We are expanding our business so that more customers can experience the living and care services at Samsung Noble County, which opened in 2001 as a premium senior living community. Through this collaboration, we will extend professional life care services beyond facilities dedicated to seniors to seniors living in multi-unit housing as well.”
Cho Hye-jeong, head of Samsung C&T’s DxP Division and a vice president, said, “By combining Samsung C&T’s capabilities in design, construction and digital solutions with Samsung Noble Life’s proven operational and service expertise, we will set a standard for housing where seniors can live longer and healthier lives in familiar surroundings.”
