[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace will showcase its capabilities in future aerospace technologies at the Sacheon Airshow, including independently developed aircraft engines, unmanned aircraft and space launch vehicles.
Hanwha Aerospace said on the 22nd that it would participate in the 2026 Sacheon Airshow, which opened that day at Sacheon Airfield in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province.
Running through the 25th, the event combines the existing air festival with the Aerospace and Defense Industry Exhibition (GADEX), with 130 companies and institutions from Korea and abroad taking part. It also features programs to expand Korean companies’ overseas business cooperation, including exhibitions of advanced technologies and products, export consultations and business meetings between global companies.
At the exhibition, Hanwha Aerospace will introduce an advanced aircraft engine under development for use in next-generation fighters, including the KF-21 Boramae, as well as a 5,500-pound-class turbofan engine developed using Korea’s own technology. It will also showcase unmanned systems technologies designed for future battlefield environments, including the short takeoff and landing unmanned aircraft Mojave STOL and tube-launched interceptor drones.
In the space sector, the company will exhibit Nuri (KSLV-II), which successfully completed its fifth launch on the 7th. As the private-sector systems integrator for Nuri, Hanwha Aerospace is participating in launch vehicle production and launch operations alongside the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and around 300 participating companies.
Hanwha Aerospace plans to use the exhibition as an opportunity to help strengthen the domestic aerospace industry ecosystem. The company considers it important to build its partners’ technological competitiveness, since the aerospace industry brings together expertise from a range of fields, including materials, parts and equipment. The government’s recent designation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex as a “Specialized Complex for the Advanced Strategic Industry of Advanced Aircraft Engines” is also part of this strategy to foster the industry ecosystem. South Gyeongsang Province plans to build an industrial foundation, together with 43 companies including Hanwha Aerospace, spanning the development of key aircraft engine materials and parts through testing and certification to production.
Beginning with a win-win cooperation declaration ceremony in February, Hanwha Aerospace has also signed a series of agreements, including an MOU on aircraft engine materials, parts and processing, and an industry-academia-research collaboration agreement related to unmanned aircraft and drones. Through these efforts, the company is expanding cooperation with 421 key materials and parts partners in Gyeongnam across major business areas such as aircraft engines, unmanned aircraft and drones.
A Hanwha Aerospace representative said, “Through win-win cooperation with our partners, we will develop advanced technologies and use them to expand into global markets, building a virtuous cycle of mutual growth.”
