The Busan Port Construction Office, under the Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, announced that it will carry out its “2026 Guidance and Management Inspections of Port Facility Works and Port Development Projects by Entities Other Than Port Management Authorities” from the 22nd through the 27th.
The inspections will cover four port development projects by entities other than port management authorities and nine port facility works, for a total of 13 sites.
Under Article 23 of the “Guidelines for Handling Affairs Related to Permits for Port Development Projects by Entities Other Than Port Management Authorities,” the inspections will check whether conditions for approving implementation plans have been met, administrative requirements have been fulfilled, and the terms agreed upon in connection with various permits and authorizations have been observed.
Authorities will also directly review the progress of each project and on-site management conditions, and identify in advance any deficiencies that may arise during implementation. The aim is to prevent poor construction and safety accidents and ensure the smooth progress of private port development projects.
If the inspections identify matters requiring correction or improvement, the office plans to notify each project operator individually and require improvements, while taking any necessary measures.
Baek Jong-min, head of the Planning and Investigation Division at the Busan Port Construction Office, said, “We expect these guidance inspections to help prevent poor construction and safety accidents,” adding, “As the approving authority, we will do our utmost to provide guidance and oversight to ensure the smooth progress of port facility works and port development projects by entities other than port management authorities.”
