[Financial News] DK-Lok, which is expanding its business in ultra-high-purity components for semiconductors, has passed a quality audit for its metal gas filter for Samsung Electronics and begun installation testing. The company is expanding its product range beyond its traditional focus on fittings and valves to include gas filters and regulators, accelerating the localization of key semiconductor components.
According to DK-Lok on the 22nd, the company has passed a quality audit for a metal gas filter intended for use in Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor production lines and is conducting performance validation for application in actual manufacturing processes. Its goal is to begin initial mass-production deliveries in 2027, in line with the construction schedule for Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek Campus Line 5 (P5).
The installation testing is seen as a turning point that will help determine the prospects for DK-Lok’s expansion in the semiconductor business. Having passed the quality audit and moved on to verifying product performance in an actual production environment, the company now has the possibility of expanding its supply reach to new fabs and the maintenance market for existing production lines.
DK-Lok localized its metal gas filter for semiconductors through about five years of in-house research and development.
According to the company, the product achieves filtration performance that removes 99.9999999% of particles measuring 2.5 nanometers (nm) or larger, while delivering high flow rates and low pressure loss.
The company is also investing in facilities to strengthen its competitiveness in mass production. It is introducing automated welding robots and advancing the sintering technology for filter elements, a key filter material. It also plans to develop ultra-high-flow gas filters in the 3,000-slpm class and expand customer certifications, including with Samsung Display Co., Ltd. and SK hynix.
In the semiconductor components industry, the installation testing is viewed as an important step toward expanding the range of products DK-Lok supplies to its customers.
An industry source added, “If DK-Lok expands its supplied products to include gas filters, in addition to its existing fittings and valves, the range of products it supplies to customers could grow. Final performance validation and supply approval are needed for this to translate into actual mass-production revenue.”
Noh Eun-sik, CEO of DK-Lok, emphasized, “Passing the quality audit for our metal gas filter for Samsung Electronics is an achievement that recognizes the ultra-high-purity component technology and quality competitiveness we have built up. We will carry out installation testing and prepare for mass production without a hitch, while expanding our range of products for semiconductor gas supply systems.”
