[Financial News] The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education is operating four Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) Self-Directed Learning Centers in the region to enhance students' self-directed learning skills and provide a stable learning environment.
The office said on the 22nd that it held an opening ceremony for the EBS Self-Directed Learning Center at Jure Girls' High School in Sasang-gu on the 21st.
As part of a project led by the Ministry of Education, the centers provide self-directed learning spaces and learning management services using EBS programs, enabling students to set their own learning goals and plans and put them into practice.
In Busan, the centers are operating at four locations in total—Jure Girls' High School, Peniel High School, Peniel Girls' High School, and the “Daonsup” Self-Directed Learning Center at Bansong Library—from the 1st through December 2027.
The centers support students in studying independently in a comfortable environment and using EBS's diverse learning content to study according to their own levels and needs. Learning coordinators help students develop self-directed study habits by supporting them in making learning plans and managing their studies.
The office plans to support the centers' stable operation, enhance students' self-directed learning skills, and work to reduce the burden of private education costs and narrow the educational gap by providing high-quality learning opportunities.
Busan Superintendent of Education Kim Seok-jun said, “I hope the EBS Self-Directed Learning Center will establish itself as a place where students plan and carry out their own learning and grow.”
