[Financial News] POSCO Future M will proactively introduce Palantir Technologies’ data platform Foundry and its artificial intelligence (AI) platform, Palantir Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP), in its sales and marketing divisions. The move is part of the company’s vision to go beyond being a materials supplier and lead the secondary battery industry ecosystem. Its strategy is to accelerate the development of a system in which AI handles work from planning through execution, allowing people to focus on final decisions.
POSCO Future M said on the 22nd that it had signed an agreement with Palantir Technologies to adopt the platforms. Foundry is a platform for building a data-driven operating system, while AIP combines generative AI with Foundry to help companies deploy AI agents.
Palantir Technologies is a software platform company that helps businesses and institutions connect their scattered data to decision-making and execution. POSCO Future M believes collaboration with customers and suppliers is becoming as important as material performance in the secondary battery industry. Last July, it unveiled its digital innovation vision, “BoT (Battery of Things) Ecosystem Game Changer,” and since August it has been pursuing innovation in key business operations through an “enterprise-wide PI (process innovation)-based AX project.”
POSCO Future M plans to first apply the platforms in sales and marketing to enhance customer responsiveness and collaboration. After assessing the results of its AI initiatives, it will consider gradually expanding the use of Foundry and AIP to manufacturing and across the company. POSCO Future M expects that integrating and analyzing dispersed data will speed up decision-making and accelerate the development of an “AI-Native” system in which AI handles work from planning through execution and people make decisions at the final stage.
The goal is to use AI-driven manufacturing innovation to improve customer responsiveness in sales and marketing by at least 60%, increase manufacturing productivity by 30%, and cut product development time in half. Over the medium to long term, the company aims to build a platform that sets the standard for the battery industry ecosystem, using data accumulated from production through sales to expand collaboration and create new business opportunities.
Meanwhile, POSCO Future M is fostering a culture of AI use among employees through an internal AI festival and training to develop AI specialists. The festival’s selected best practices will be tested at worksites and refined based on employee feedback before being rolled out there in stages by the first half of 2027. The 87 specialists who completed the training are identifying and addressing inefficiencies they encounter in their day-to-day work.
