[Financial News] A story has emerged about a customer who demanded a refund, claiming the braised blackmouth angler they ordered contained only three pieces, then blocked the owner after the owner sent CCTV footage.
On the 21st, JTBC’s “Scandal Supervisor” featured the account of A, who said they had been running a braised blackmouth angler restaurant in Wonju, Gangwon Province, for six years.
A said that, because some customers demanded refunds, claiming there was no squid or webfoot octopus—ingredients normally included in braised seafood—or not even a single piece of blackmouth angler in their braised blackmouth angler, they had installed CCTV near the kitchen counter a year ago. A said the camera was positioned to clearly show the types and amounts of seafood in each dish and their weight, and that on about four occasions since then, customers had apologized after CCTV footage proved how the food was prepared.
Then, on the 19th, an order came in for the standard one-to-two-person portion of braised blackmouth angler, priced at 28,000 won, and A cooked the food and sent it out for delivery. A said the customer later called and claimed, “There are only three pieces of blackmouth angler, and only one mussel.”
A checked the CCTV and found that the dish contained seven pieces of blackmouth angler and three mussels.
A sent the customer the CCTV footage, texted, “There are seven pieces of blackmouth angler, weighing 380 grams. If you look closely, you’ll find three mussels, including two without shells. Enjoy your meal,” and then called.
The customer replied, “You shouldn’t send CCTV footage like this,” and added, “I run a business too, so I’m not the type to mess around with food.”
A sent the CCTV footage and said, “I hope this clears up the misunderstanding,” but the customer reportedly replied, “There’s no misunderstanding. I can only see three pieces of meat and one mussel.”
A lamented, “They kept insisting that I collect the food and issue a refund, but after seeing the CCTV footage, they blocked me without even apologizing.”
