The Marine Industry Specialized Employment Center said on the 22nd that it will run “Corporate-Tailored Recruitment-Linked Training for Maritime and International Logistics Office Workers” for 20 young job seekers at the Saha Women's Human Resources Development Center from the 26th through the 30th.
Current employees of Eunsan Shipping & Air, Eastern Marine, and Leona Shipping & Air, maritime companies in Busan, will take part in the course as instructors.
The 25-hour course will focus on the work performed by international logistics office workers, including practical operations for maritime exports and air imports, as well as communication with cargo owners. After completing the course, trainees can also take part in an “On-site Meeting Day” to connect with companies for recruitment.
In particular, current employees of maritime logistics companies will teach the course themselves, sharing actual work procedures, the roles associated with different jobs, and what is required to carry out practical tasks. This will help trainees quickly adapt to the workplace and demonstrate their practical skills after joining a company.
The course is a follow-up to the “Port Workforce Training Project” launched by the center this year. The center ran a port cargo inspection workforce training course, training 38 middle-aged and older job seekers, 24 of whom found jobs. Building on this result, it has expanded workforce training to include office jobs.
The center plans to continue working with companies to identify new workforce needs by job type. It also plans to provide workforce training and recruitment-linkage services tailored to those needs, improving the relevance and effectiveness of employment services on the ground.
Lee Chang-gil, head of the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, stressed, “With the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries relocating to Busan, we will actively respond to changes in the maritime industry and companies’ workforce needs. Going forward, we will proactively identify the employment services companies need, drawing on the voices of people in the field, and help ensure that workforce training leads to actual hiring results.”
