[Financial News] Orion has brought new production lines for its pie brand Custard into full-scale operation in South Korea, Vietnam and India.
According to industry sources on the 22nd, as demand for Custard surged both in South Korea and overseas, Orion added a production line in South Korea last September and recently began operating new production lines in Vietnam and India.
With this expansion, Custard's global production capacity has grown to a scale of up to 300 billion won per year. This is about twice last year's sales.
First launched in South Korea in 2004, Orion Custard is growing into a global pie brand that represents Orion, following Choco Pie.
Last year, combined global annual sales reached 154 billion won, up 14% from the previous year. China, Vietnam, India and other markets accounted for 76% of total sales.
Orion Custard has expanded into markets such as China, Vietnam and India, with the 'Global Research Institute' at its South Korean headquarters serving as a control tower.
In Vietnam, it has broadened consumer choice by offering a variety of products, including Custard Original, com (an ingredient made by processing young glutinous rice using traditional Vietnamese methods), Tiramisu, Raspberry, Egg Lava, low-sugar and Melon.
An Orion representative said, "Having expanded production capacity to meet rapidly growing global demand, we will continue to build Custard into a global brand."
