[Financial News] Kia’s high-performance electric vehicle, the EV6 GT, has taken the overall top spot in Germany, the home of the automobile industry, beating Tesla and Chinese EVs. It demonstrated its product competitiveness by outperforming rival models in key evaluation areas, including safety, powertrain and driving performance. It stood out in particular in driving performance, scoring 20 points higher than the Tesla Model Y Performance and making its presence felt in the high-performance EV market.
According to Kia on the 22nd, the EV6 GT took first place with a total score of 585 points in a comparison test of high-output electric vehicles conducted by the German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport. It beat the Tesla Model Y Performance (576 points) by 9 points, followed by China’s Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD (569 points), the Superset Tech Stack 4 Coupe Dual Motor (531 points) and China’s BYD Sealion 7 AWD Excellence (508 points).
Auto Motor und Sport is considered one of Germany’s three leading automotive magazines, alongside Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung. The test evaluated five high-output electric vehicles across seven categories: body and safety, comfort, powertrain, driving performance, environmental friendliness and economy.
The EV6 GT recorded the highest scores in three categories: safety (89 points), powertrain (105 points) and driving performance (96 points). In safety, it particularly outperformed rival models in braking distance and driving stability. From 100 km/h, its stopping distance was 34.5 meters under cold-brake conditions and 33.5 meters under hot-brake conditions—the shortest among the vehicles tested in both cases.
The gap widened further in driving performance. The EV6 GT scored 96 points, beating the runner-up, the Tesla Model Y Performance (76 points), by 20 points. In the 18-meter slalom and double-lane-change tests, it recorded passing speeds of 67.6 km/h and 132.9 km/h, respectively, the best results among the vehicles tested. Its steering performance and variety of drive modes were also highly rated.
Its powertrain, which delivers a maximum output of 478 kW (650 horsepower), was also cited as a strength. It received high marks for power delivery, shifting and regenerative braking performance, and its one-pedal driving function, earning the category’s top score of 105 points.
Auto Motor und Sport summed up: “The EV6 GT won this comparison test on the strength of its outstanding driving performance.” It also said the EV6 GT was the only vehicle in the test with distinctly sporty driving characteristics, citing its virtual gear-shifting function and drift mode as differentiating features.
A Kia representative said, “It is meaningful that the EV6 GT has been recognized for its competitiveness in key areas such as safety, powertrain and driving performance in a comparison test against electric vehicles from around the world. We will continue to do our utmost to provide customers with a distinctive electrified driving experience and reliable product quality.”
