[Financial News] A kindergarten teacher reportedly faced complaints from some parents after posting photos of a luxury handbag on her social media account, and even met with the director.
On the 21st, JTBC’s “Scandal Supervisor” featured the story of A, who had worked as a kindergarten teacher for about four years.
A reportedly recently posted photos of herself carrying a luxury handbag and of a place she stayed while traveling on her social media account.
A had set her account so that parents could see only her basic profile, but some parents raised concerns, and she eventually had two meetings with the director.
A said she thought some parents had even looked up the profile visible only to her acquaintances.
The director told A that it would be difficult to buy a luxury handbag on a kindergarten teacher’s salary, saying, “It’s extravagant and a desire to show off, and a teacher shouldn’t have that kind of mindset.”
The director added, “I didn’t like her posting a luxury handbag on social media just because she had received it as a gift from someone,” and pointed out that parents who could not receive luxury handbags might feel deprived by comparison. The director emphasized, “Parents are always involved in a kindergarten.”
A said, “This is the first time anything like this has happened in my four years as a kindergarten teacher,” and added, “Even as I said, ‘I’ll be careful,’ I was hurt and cried for a long time.”
Psychology professor Sanghee Park, who heard the story, said, “The young teacher may have savings, and these days there are many young people who are good at managing their money, aren’t there? I don’t understand why parents would have a problem with someone buying something for herself with her own means.” She added, “I also wonder whether the director really needed to pass that along.”
